Anhregion Gelert

John Williams started making toffee in 2004 following a visit to a spring trade show in Birmingham where he made contacts with the international company Calico Cottage.  The company provides the ready mix and John then adds flavourings to the mixture.  By now John has 20 different flavourings e.g. chocolate orange, ginger, caramel, mint amaretto, coffee, nuts, rum and raisin.  He was brought up in Nant Gwynant and gave up farming when he took over the shop with his wife Debbie in 2002.

An unique new ILM project wich offers long term the unemployed people a chance to gain new skills and expericeince in an organic sourdough bread bakery.  The project is managed by Nacro and is aimed at providing employment experience/training form people who have barriers to employment or are economically inactive.   The project has developed links with local businesses who can provide additional placement opportunities for participants.  Becws Pesda is a great opportunity for people to gain new skills wilst working in a traditional bakery.

Bragdy Mws Piws

The Purple Moose Brewery is a ’10-Barrel’ micro-brewery based in Porthmadog.  Brewing commenced in June 2005 and now takes place several times each week.  Great care is taken to ensure that every pint is the perfect pint – created with the finest ingredients through the time-honoured methods of mashing, boiling, fermenting and conditioning.

The Purple Moose Brewery was first conceived in the late summer of 1995, a name devised by Lawrence Washington to adorn the bottle labels for his new hobby of home-brewing. Although the 5 gallon operation was based in his house in Cheltenham, the brewery name had been thought up during a weekend carrying out voluntary work on the Ffestiniog Railway in North Wales.   The choice of name was obvious. Purple is Lawrence's favourite colour, and moose, well, everyone loves moose, just some more than others!

Bwyd Cadw Goetre

Husband and wife team Karen and David Collett established the business Goetre Farm Preserves in 2004.  Both are experienced caterers, David spending his whole working career in the trade, employed locally in the mid 80s as head chef at a well respected hotel and before that five years cooking aboard a luxury liner, cruising in far off places. Karen is a trained patisserie and also well experienced in all aspects of the hotel and restaurant trade.  Goetre Farm Preserves is an authentic farmhouse kitchen, producing both traditional and creative recipes.  They source as many ingredients locally as possible, from apples plums and berries, to other vegetables and fruit grown in the surrounding vicinity.

Cadwalader Ice Cream Ltd

Cadwaladers Ice Cream was started by husband and wife team David and Hannah when they built and opened the shop in Castle Street, Criccieth back in 1927.

Cegin Pennant

Eluned Owen produces fruit cakes and loaves, mince pies, Christmas cakes, gingerbread, eccles cakes, jams, marmalades and chutneys.  Every effort is made to use local fruit and vegetables.  Eluned had an interest in cooking for many years and learnt the craft mostly from her mother.  She worked as a cook and housekeeper for the Lord Aberconwy’s brother in Llanrwst for 12 years.  She then moved to Rhosgadfan and has settled in Nebo for the last 10 years.  She started this business as an income to supplement her pension.

Cig Oen Ddwyryd

The Welsh lambs graze on the saltings of the Dwyryd estuary, on the Traeth Bach, Penhyndeudraeth (to Portmeirion).  Here the daily tide and sea flood the pastures and the lambs graze the variety of unusual plants full of nutrients and feed on special minerals including Omega 3, from the saltings to give a subtle and unique flavour to the meat.  The different vegetation of these pastures create meat of tender texture, moist and lighter than usual to give a superb eating experience.  Traceability is maintained throughout the production process.  The Welsh Organic Scheme has licensed that the produce of this farm is organic.  In France salt marsh lamb, l'agneau pré-salé, is acknowledged as an unique, delicacy and popular in restaurants and shops of quality

Dionne was born in Deiniolen, she is now settled in Dinas, Llanwnda with her husband Gwyn and her mischevious cat Bela. She spends much of her free time baking cakes for her family and friends. After a lot of persuading by her friend Lucy, she finally decided to open her own business. Ciwt Cup cakes was established in May 2010. Dionne works full time for Siemens in Llanberis, but she hopes to build her buisiness so that she can work part time, and concentrate on her cakes.

Dyffryn Mawddach Honey

Quality dark and light honey is produced.

Carys Wyn Edwards has an interest in honey since she was very young and had her first honey hive when she was 15 years old.  The interest started by spending time with her Uncle Robat Edwards (Uncle Bob) and as he became older Carys took over the business.  The business has grown by now and she has a number of hives.  She had a great success by competing in the Royal Welsh show and the Meirionnydd County show.  She was the champion in each of the Royal Welsh classes in 2009.

Dŵr Cerist Cyf

Natural Spring Water from Dinas Mawddwy - Dŵr Cerist was established in 1989 on Llawr Cae Farm Dinas Mawddwy.  Dŵr Cerist became recognised as an official source of mineral water by the European Union.  It is especially pure – only 19mg of dissolved material in each litre of water.  It is low in sodium and has many other advantages for health.  In 2007 the charity known as Agoriad took over the water works as a social business which crates work opportunities to individuals with disabilities.  Up to today seven persons take part in running the business day to day.

Dŵr yr Wyddfa

Mrs Evelyn Myfanwy Williams started the business 8 years ago.  Water tests were made on the farm and it was realised that the water was pure and as a result it was bottled for selling.  Evelyn already had a background in business with her wool shops in Holyhead and Bangor and her husband was farming.  They have invested in equipment and a new shed by the well of artesian water on Gwredog farm.  By now Evelyn rents out the farm land.

The Eboni ac Eifori enterprise was set up by Matthew Robertson after he left University, and now in London training as a Chartered Accountant...  Matthew’s father, Andrew Robertson, found himself redundant and picked up the fledging business at the beginning of 2010.  A variety of fudge is produced e.g. vanilla, ginger, chocolate, rum & raisin.

Popty Lleuar

Anwen and Wil farm sheep and beef cattle, and provide Bed & Breakfast accommodation for visitors.  During the fuel protest in the year 2000 they registered their kitchen with the Council and started baking cakes for the Dinas Dinlle cafe as a first step and developed the business to supply others.  By now they are catering for funeral teas, birthday parties and special occasions.  It continues as a family business with Anwen working full time with the help of her family with deliveries during busy times.

Traed Moch

Y Becws

Cakes and puddings of every kind are produced e.g. Small cakes/muffins, sponges, scones, flapjacks, fruit cakes, crumble and savoury foods such as quiches and pies.  On 31 May 2010 Ceri took over the former business 'Cegin Mam' and renamed is 'Y Becws'.  As her job in transporting ended she studied for a degree in Social Health and Care.  Starting her own business would be more convenient to control her own time with her children.  She also enjoys cooking and baking very much.

Ynysgyffylog

Sue and Jim moved to Arthog in 2005 and their first litter of eight pigs cleared the ground. They breed and raise their herd naturally and the meat is butchered and cured on the farm where they also make a range of pork sausages. Their hens and ducks roam freely. No sprays or fertilisers are used on the land and the livestock are fed on GM-free food. Sue and Jim sell at the farm gate, at local markets and supply many hotels, cafes.
